The 2014 Tingalpa Trot was another amazing achievement for the Wynnum Redlands Canoe Club.
A large flotilla of young and old paddlers set off at impressive speed, amongst laughter and celebration, over a number of staggered starts. The participants paddled from the Ferry Road, Thorneside clubhouse en route to Capalaba for the annual 5km leg, and some returned for the 10km event.
Olympic Gold Medallist Tate Smith joined the field with visitors from all across South East Queensland and beyond registering for the paddle.
As proud patron of the Wynnum Redlands Canoe Club, I commend the impressive work of the volunteer committee, headed by Commodore John Simpson, Secretary Andrew Bennet and Member Administrator Geraldine Rose and a loyal band of passionate canoe, kayak, paddle board and ski members.
The sport is growing in popularity and the club is growing in size every year.
The club is supported by Redland City Council and Queensland Canoeing.
Please come down for a family paddle or tryout on a Saturday/Sunday (bookings are essential) refer to the calendar online:
